Description
Imagine being able to enjoy your local swimming pool without facing a series of physical barriers. What if your pool provided a dedicated wheelchair designed specifically for aquatic environments—one that allows you to move freely without risking damage to your everyday mobility equipment?
Vipamat has carefully considered these challenges. We consistently ask: what is the best way to ensure accessible and enjoyable water activities for everyone? Even before reaching the pool itself, key questions arise—how do you access the changing rooms or showers? How do you navigate wet, restricted areas where even able-bodied individuals must go barefoot?
That’s why Vipamat developed the Hippocampe pool wheelchair. Designed to withstand water and humid environments, the Hippocampe can be borrowed directly from the changing room and used in the shower. It’s highly maneuverable thanks to a front directional wheel and can be used across all poolside areas. Its seat, made from closed-cell hydrophobic foam, repels water while offering maximum comfort.
When it's time to enter the pool, users have three options: you can roll down a sloped entry and float out of the wheelchair; stop and brake the Hippocampe near the pool edge to transfer yourself into the water; or, with the help of a caregiver, descend the pool stairs. Whatever the method, the Hippocampe empowers you to experience the pool with confidence, independence, and ease.
